اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ خَيْرَهَا، وَخَيْرَ مَا جَبَلْتَهَا عَلَيْهِ، وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّهَا، وَشَرِّ مَا جَبَلْتَهَا عَلَيْهِ
Transliteration
Allahumma innee as’aluka khayrahaa, wa khayra maa jabaltahaa ‛alayhi, wa a‛oodhu bika min sharrihaa, wa sharri maa jabaltahaa ‛alayh.
Meaning in English
O Allah, I ask You for the goodness within her and the goodness that you have made her inclined towards, and I seek refuge with You from the evil within her and the evil that you have made her inclined towards.
Hadith Text
Amr b. Shu’aib on his father’s authority said that his grandfather (Abdullah ibn Amr ibn al-‘As) reported the Prophet (ﷺ) said: If one of you marries a woman or buys a slave, he should say:
“O Allah, I ask You for the good in her, and in the disposition You have given her; I take refuge in You from the evil in her, and in the disposition You have given her.” When he buys a camel, he should take hold of the top of its hump and say the same kind of thing.
Abu Dawud said: Abu Sa’id added the following words in his version: He should then tale hold of her forelock and pray for blessing in the case of a woman or a slave.

Scholars such as Al-Albani said that the same du’a can be said when buying a car as the purpose and the goodness and evil of it are the same as a riding animal (see commentary in the etiquettes of Marriage p93)
The car, and similar vehicles in which people ride, is a creation of Allah, just like animals.
Undoubtedly, the owner hopes for the good that comes from it and fears the evil that may arise. Therefore, he should ask Allah for its goodness and seek refuge in Him from its harm.
Furthermore, the car is similar to a camel or a donkey in terms of its use as a means of transportation.
All of them are hoped to bring good and feared to bring harm. Therefore, this supplication can be recited upon buying a new car.
