9 Dua For Protection From Hellfire in Arabic and English
As Muslims, it is part of our faith to believe in the hellfire otherwise known as Jahannam; An abode that Allah has created as a means of severe punishment for the wrongdoers of Earth, aside from those who were forgiven and admitted into His immense mercy.
We may be shielded from the Fire by seeking protection with Allah from it and always making dua for protection from hellfire.
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was always intensely afraid of the Fire and would consistently warn people to ward themselves away from it. The Prophet (peace be upon him) would also in fact mention certain deeds that would assist the doer to distance themselves from the Fire tremendously.
1. Dua For Protection From Hellfire in Arabic
رَبَّنَا ٱصۡرِفۡ عَنَّا عَذَابَ جَهَنَّمَۖ إِنَّ عَذَابَهَا كَانَ غَرَامًا
Transliteration: Rabbanas rif ‘annaa ‘azaaba Jahannama inna ‘azaabahaa kaana gharaamaa.
Meaning: Our Lord! Keep the punishment of Hell away from us, for its punishment is indeed unrelenting.
In this dua, you’re asking God to protect you from the severe punishment of Hell because it’s really harsh and lasts forever. It’s a plea for safety from the consequences of wrongdoing.

2. Dua
رَبَّنَآ إِنَّنَآ ءَامَنَّا فَاغْفِرْ لَنَا ذُنُوبَنَا وَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ
Transliteration: Rabbanaaa innanaaa aamannaa faghfir lanaa zunoobanaa wa qinaa ‘azaaban Naar.
Meaning: Our Lord! We have indeed believed, so forgive us our sins and save us from the punishment of the Fire.
Surah Al Imran verse 16
3. Dua for Paradise And Protection From Hellfire
The dua for paradise and protection from hellfire is written in Arabic as:
اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ الْجَنَّةَ، وَمَا قَرَّبَ إِلَيْهَا مِنْ قَوْلٍ أَوْ عَمَلٍ، وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ النَّارِ وَمَا قَرَّبَ إِلَيْهَا مِنْ قَوْلٍ أَوْ عَمَلٍ
Transliteration: Allaahumma innee as-aluka al–Jannah, wa maa qarraba ilayhaa min qawl aw ‘amal, wa Audhubika min an-Naar wa maa qarraba ilayhaa min qawl aw ‘amal.
Meaning in English: O Allaah, I ask of You for Paradise and that which brings me closer to it of statements or actions. And I seek refuge with You from the Hellfire and that which takes me closer to it of statements or actions.

In this supplication, you’re requesting Allah for Paradise and anything that helps you get closer to it through your words or deeds.
Simultaneously, you’re seeking refuge from the Hellfire and anything that might lead you towards it, whether through what you say or do. It’s a prayer for guidance towards righteousness and protection from actions that may lead to the Hellfire.
4. Dua
اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ الْجَنَّةَ وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ النَّارِ
Transliteration: Allahumma inni as’aluka jannah wa a’udhu bika min an naar.
Meaning: O Allah, I ask You for Paradise, and I seek refuge in You from the Fire.
5. Dua
اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ رِضَاكَ وَالجَنَّةَ، وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ سَخَطِكَ وَالنَّارِ
Transliteration: Allaahumma innee as-aluka Ridaak wal Jannah wa Audhubika min sakhatik wan-naar.
Meaning: O Allaah, I ask of Your pleasure and for Paradise,and I seek refuge from Your displeasure and from the Hellfire.
6. Dua O Allah, Protect Me From Hellfire In Arabic
Below is how to write o Allah, protect me from hellfire in Arabic:
اللَّهُمَّ أَجِرْنِي مِنَ النَّارِ
Transliteration: Allaahumma Ajirni Minan Naar.
Meaning: O Allah, protect me from the Hellfire
7. Dua for Protection From Fire And Punishment of the Grave
Narrated `Aisha: The Prophet (ﷺ) used to say,
اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ فِتْنَةِ النَّارِ وَعَذَابِ النَّارِ، وَفِتْنَةِ الْقَبْرِ وَعَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ
Transliteration: Allahumma inni auzu Bika Min fitnatin naar wa azabin naar, wa fitnatil qabar wa azabil qabar.
Meaning: O Allah! I seek refuge with You from the affliction of the Fire, the punishment of the Fire, the affliction of the grave, the punishment of the grave, and the evil of the affliction of poverty.

8. Dua
Seeking Refuge from Four Things Before the Dua’ in Tashahud:
اللّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعوذُ بِكَ مِنْ عَذابِ القَبْر، وَمِنْ عَذابِ جَهَنَّم، وَمِنْ فِتْنَةِ المَحْيا وَالمَمات، وَمِنْ شَرِّ فِتْنَةِ المَسيحِ الدَّجّال
Transliteration: Allaahumma ‘innee a’oothu bika min ‘adhaabil-qabri, wa min ‘adhaabi Jahannam, wa min fitnatil-Mahyaa wal Mamaati, wa min sharri Fitnatil-Maseehid-Dajjal.
Meaning English: O Allah, I seek refuge with you from the punishment of the grave, from the torment of the Fire, from the trials of life and death, and from the trial of the Dajjal.
9. Dua
رَبَّنَا آتِنَا فِىْ الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً وَفِىْ الآخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً وَّقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ
Transliteration: Rabbanaa ‘aatinaa fid-dunyaa hasanatan wa fil-‘aakhirati hasanatan wa qinaa ‘athaaban-naar.
Meaning: Our Lord! Give us in this world that which is good and in the Hereafter that which is good,and save us from the torment of the Fire!
Surah Al Baqara verse 201
As for acquiring safety from the Fire, it includes being directed to what leads to this good end in this world, such as avoiding the prohibitions, sins of all kinds and doubtful matters.
Deeds That Will Save You From Hellfire
- Believing in Allah and His Messenger.
Ubada Ibn Samit narrated that the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: “Whoever witnesses that there is no god but Allah and Muhammad is His Messenger, Allah forbids the Fire from touching him.”
- Being merciful to others.
Abdullah Ibn Masood Narrated that the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: “Shall I not inform you of whom the Fire is unlawful and he is unlawful for the Fire? Every person who is near (to people), friendly, and easy (to deal with).”
- Praying regularly.
Abu Hurairah narrated that the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: “The Fire will consume all of the son of Adam except the mark of prostration. Allah has forbidden the Fire to consume the mark of prostration.”
Umm Habiba Narrated that the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: “Whoever prays four Rak’ah before the Zuhr and four afterwards, Allah will forbid him to the Fire.”
- Weeping out of fear of Allah.
Abu Huraira narrated that the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: “One who weeps out of fear of Allah, will not enter the Fire until the milk returns back in the udder (i.e. never)”
- Voluntary Fasting
Abu Said Al Khudri narrated that the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: “No servant will fast a day in the cause of Allah, except that Allah distances his face from the Fire (a distance of) seventy years”.
- Giving in Charity.
Adiyy Ibn Hatim narrated that the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: “Protect yourselves from the Fire, even with half a date.”
- Seeking Protection from the Fire.
Anas Bin Malik narrated that the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: “Whoever seeks refuge from the Fire three times, the Fire says: ‘O Allah, save him from the Fire.”
