لَّآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّآ أَنتَ سُبْحَٰنَكَ إِنِّى كُنتُ مِنَ ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ
Ayat Karima Transliteration
The correct transliteration is La ilaha illa anta subhanaka inni kuntu minaz zalimin.

Ayat E Kareema Hadith
The full Hadith is:
Sa’d reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “The supplication of Yunus when he called upon Allah inside the belly of the whale was this,
‘There is no God but you, glory be to you, for I have been among the wrongdoers,’. Verily, a Muslim never supplicates for anything with it but that Allah will answer him.”

Allah’s Messenger (peace be upon him) said, ‘The invocation of my brother Dhun-Noon: None has the right to be worshipped save You; glory be to You, I have been among the wrongdoers. None who is experiencing difficulty says it except that Allah will relieve him of his difficulty.’ (Ahmad and at-Tirmidhee and it is saheeh)
Prophet Yoonus Yunus ibn Mattaa was one of the Prophets of Allah. Yoonus was sent to his people as a prophet to call them to the worship of Allah Alone and to abandon their sinful ways.

He spent many years of his life in pursuit of this mission. But in all of this time, only a handful of people believed. Prophet Yoonus finally, in despair, supplicated to Allah that His punishment should descend upon his people.
In response, he was commanded to preach to his people for a further period of forty days. He summoned them to Allah, but they rejected him and continued in their disbelief.
When three days remained, he proclaimed amongst his people that punishment would befall them in three days, and he declared himself innocent of what they worshipped.
The Qur’an says, ‘And Dhun-Noon when he went off in anger, thinking We had no power over him.’ (21: 87)
Dhun-Noon means the one with the fish. His people gathered together and agreed among themselves that Yoonus was an extremely truthful person. He was not known to lie.
When they saw that he had indeed departed, they became certain of the imminent punishment and repented. Allah forgave them and showed them mercy.
On the other hand, Prophet Yoonus embarked upon a heavily laden ship. But it was not very long before the ship ran into a storm and was about to founder.
The mariners said to each other, ‘Come let us cast lots that we may know for whose cause this evil is upon us.’ And then they cast lots, and he was the one who lost.
The mariners were, however, reluctant to throw him overboard, seeing him to be a pious man. They, therefore, repeated the drawing of lots three times. His name came up each time.
So they took up Yoonus and cast him forth into the sea, and the sea ceased from its raging. Upon being thrown into the sea, he was swallowed by a huge whale.
The whale allowed him to stay in its belly, by the command of Allah. Then he cried out in the deep darkness, ‘La ilaha illa anta subhanaka inni kuntu minaz zalimin.. (21: 87) Allah responded to him and rescued him from his grief.
This is how He rescues the believers. Had Yoonus not been of those who extol Allah’s limitless glory, he would indeed have remained in the whale’s belly till the day when all shall be raised from the dead.
After having regained health and strength, Prophet Yoonus returned to his people. He informed them that Allah had indeed forgiven them, and they welcomed him with open arms.
Thus the supplication that Yoonus made while he was in the whale’s stomach is a special, blessed supplication.
Allah accepts the supplication of anyone who makes the supplication of Prophet Yoonus. Therefore, this supplication was a blessing not only for Yoonus, but also for every single Muslim.
This statement contains four affairs and benefits:
- The First Affair: At-Tawheed: Laa Ilaha Ma-Allaah there is the Tawheed of Allaah.
- The Second Affair: Absolving Allaah (from imperfections). In his statement: Subhaanaka (Glory be unto You). The meaning of: ‘Glory be unto You is: I absolve You, O Allaah, from everything which does not befit You. I absolve You from deficiencies and defects. I absolve You from what the (false) describers, from the enemies of the Messengers, describe You with. “Glorified be your Lord, the Lord of Honor and Power! (He is free) from what they attribute unto Him!”
- The Third Affair: (It contains) acknowledgement of wrongdoing and shortcoming: ‘Indeed I have been from the wrongdoers.
- The Fourth Affair: Servitude to Allaah, the Glorified and High, and your acknowledgement that you are a servant of Allaah the Mighty and Majestic, and you cannot do without Allaah for the twinkling of an eye.
So this contains a great treatment and a blessed cure. Due to this, the person is to run for refuge in all of his calamities, and in all of his instances of fright and hard times, to Allaah.
None should be ran to for refuge except Allaah; in any affliction that hits him, and in any calamity that befalls him, none should be run to for refuge except Allaah.
All of the created beings and mankind together, by Allaah, have no power to do anything for you.
If Allaah wants to cause harm to you, they cannot repel it. If He wishes to have mercy upon you, then they are not able to withhold it.
“Whatever of mercy (i.e. of good), Allaah may grant to mankind; none can withhold it, and whatever He may withhold, none can grant it thereafter. And He is the Almighty, the All-Wise.”
The harm which Allaah wills to befall, none can remove it nor can anyone lift it. The One who lowers, the One who raises, the One who grasps, the One who spreads, the Giver, the Withholder, the One who honors (some), the One who humiliates (others), the One in Whose Hand are all affairs.
He is Allaah, the Glorified and High. So none should be run to for refuge except Him and none should be relied upon except Him, Glorified and Exalted be He.
So this is supplication or statement of remembrance which is affirmed within the Sunnah from the Prophet regarding treatment for stress.
Anyone who is faced with sadness may use this dua, it is a beautiful wording that is mentioned by Allah in the Quran.
