Bismillahillazi la yadurru means In the Name of Allah, Who with His Name nothing can cause harm in the earth nor in the heavens, and He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing.

بِسْمِ اللهِ الَّذِيْ لا يَضُرُّ مَعَ اسْمِهِ شَيْءٌ فِي الأَرْضِ وَلا فِي الْسَّمَاءِ وَهُوَ السَّمِيْعُ الْعَلِيْمُ
Transliteration
Bismillahilladhi la yadurru ma’a ismihi shay’un fi’l-ard wa la fi’l-sama’ wa huwa al-samee’ ul-‘aleem.

Narrated Uthman ibn Affan: Aban ibn Uthman said: I heard Uthman ibn Affan (his father) say: I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say:
If anyone says three times: “In the name of Allah, when Whose name is mentioned nothing on Earth or in Heaven can cause harm, and He is the Hearer, the Knower” he will not suffer sudden affliction till the morning, and if anyone says this in the morning, he will not suffer sudden affliction till the evening.
Aban was afflicted by some paralysis and when a man who heard the tradition began to look at him, he said to him: Why are you looking at me? I swear by Allah, I did not tell a lie about Uthman, nor did Uthman tell a lie about the Prophet (ﷺ), but that day when I was afflicted by it, I became angry and forgot to say them.
Narrated by Abu Dawood (5088).
It was also narrated by at-Tirmidhi in his Sunan (no. 3388) as follows:
“There is no one who says in the morning of every day and the evening of every night (the above dua), three times but nothing will harm him.”

Explanation of the Dua
The Sunnah concerning these words of remembrance is that they be repeated three times each morning and each evening, just as the Prophet (ﷺ) instructed it to be done.
The Prophet’s (ﷺ) saying in the Hadeeth: ‘In the name of Allāh…’– means, In the name of Allāh I seek refuge (from any harm befalling me).
Hence, every person who is doing a particular action estimates (in his mind) an appropriate verb that fits his condition at the time he is saying Bismillah’.
In this way, the person who is eating, when he says: ‘Bismillah’ intends by it, In the name of Allāh I am eating! Similarly, the one who is slaughtering an animal, when he says:
‘Bismillah’ intends by it, In the name of Allāh I am slaughtering this animals and the writer, when he says: Bismillah’ intends by it, “In the name of Allāh I am writing.
The Prophet’s (ﷺ) saying: ‘with whose name nothing is harmed on the earth nor in the heavens…’– means that whoever seeks refuge in the name of Allah – then, he will not be harmed by any calamity coming from the earth, nor anything coming from the heavens.
The Prophet’s (ﷺ) saying: ‘…and He is the All-Hearing (as-Samee’) the All-Knowing (al-‘Aleem)’ – means that Allah is as Samee’ Who Hears the sayings of His servants, and al-Aleem Who Knows their actions.

Shaykh Muhammad bin Salih al-Uthaymeen (رحمه الله) said:
“This is because Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala has in His Hand the dominion of the heavens and the earth. His Name is blessed if it is mentioned over something.
This is why it is legislated to mention Allah Ta’ala’s Name over food, if you intended to eat then you say in the Name of Allah and if you intend to drink then you say in the Name of Allah, if you intend to come to your wife then you say in the Name of Allah.
Therefore, mentioning the Name of Allah is legislated to say at many times however the strongest opinion is that it is obligatory for a person to mention it upon food and drink, if he intends to eat he says in the Name of Allalah, and if he intends to drink that he says in the Name of Allah, due to the command of the Prophet (ﷺ) to do so.
Also because the Prophet (ﷺ) mentioned that whoever did not mention the Name of Allah over his food then Shaytaan partakes in that food.
So do not forget to say every evening and every morning: ‘In the Name of Allah with whose name no harm whatsoever can come to you on the earth or in heaven, and Allah is the all- Hearing and all-knowing. Three times.’
