Dua For Tooth Pain

5 Powerful Dua For Tooth Pain Relief in Arabic and English

A toothache is mild to severe pain in or around your teeth and jaws. It may indicate that you have a tooth or gum concern. There is no specific dua for tooth pain, however, the prophet SAW taught us general dua for pain in which there is healing and a lessening of pain and sickness as well as reward.

Among the things that he SAW taught us are the following:

It was narrated from ‘Uthman ibn Abi’l-‘As that he complained to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) about a pain in his body that he had suffered from the time he became Muslim.

The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said to him: “Put your hand on the part of the body that hurts and say:

Dua For Tooth Pain in Arabic

باسْمِ اللهِ (3×) أَعُوذُ بِاللَّهِ وَقُدْرَتِهِ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا أَجِدُ وَأُحَاذِرُ (7×)

Transliteration

Bismillah (three times), A’udhu Billahi wa qudratihi min sharri ma ajidu wa uhadhir (seven times).

Meaning in English

In the name of Allah (×3). And say seven times: I seek refuge in Allah and His power from the evil of what I feel and worry about (×7).

(Narrated by Muslim, 2202)

Sheikh ibn Uthaimeen said in the explanation of Riyadus Saliheen: When a person experiences any pain, he should put his hand on the spot and say: ‘With the name of Allah (three times), I seek refuge in the Honored of Allah and His Might from what I feel and what I apprehend,’ saying it seven times.

When he says this with certainty and believing that he will benefit from it, the pain will definitely abate by the leave of Allah.

Dua For Tooth Pain

This is more effective than perceptible drugs such as tablets, syrups and injection. In the case of the former, you are seeking refuge from the One Who owns the Dominion of the Heavens and the Earth, the One Who has sent down the illness and the One Who is capable of removing it. End of Quote

  • “I seek refuge in the Honored of Allah and His Might,” meaning: I seek shelter, cling, and seek protection in Allah and His power,
  • “from what I feel and what I apprehend,” meaning: I also seek protection,
  • “from what is expected to happen in the future,” such as sorrow and fear, or the continuation and spread of this illness with its pain throughout the body.

This supplication indicates seeking protection from any pain among the various bodily organs.

It was narrated from Abu Sa’id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that some of the Companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) came to one of the Arab tribes.

They asked them for hospitality but they refused to welcome them. Whilst they were like that, the chief of that tribe was stung. They said: ‘Do you have any remedy or someone who can recite ruqyah?’

They said: ‘You did not offer us hospitality, so we will not do anything until you give us something in return.’ Then they agreed upon a flock of sheep.

Then he started to recite the Essence of the Quran – i.e., Surat al-Fatihah – and he collected his saliva and spat at him (at the site of the injury), and he recovered.

The sheep were brought and they (the Companions) said: We will not take them until we ask the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him).

So they asked him and he smiled and said: “How did you know that it is a ruqyah? Take them and give me a share of them.”

(Narrated by al-Bukhari, 5404; Muslim, 2201)

Ibn al-Qayyim said: “There was a time when I fell sick in Makkah, and I could not find a doctor or any medicine, so I treated myself by reciting it. I would take some Zamzam water and recite it over it several times, then drink it. I recovered fully by these means, then I began to do that whenever I felt a lot of pain, and I benefited greatly from it.” (Zad al-Ma’ad, 4/164)

Etiquette of du`a

But over and above all that there must be sincerity towards Allah in the dua, and sincere turning to Him and humility before Him, and one should seek out the times when prayers are answered, for when a person raises his hand to Allah in dua, He is reluctant that the person should remain empty-handed.

Do not be hasty in seeking a response, for Allah may delay the answer for a reason that is known to Him, so you should be patient and have certain faith.

Remember that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:

“Call upon Allah when you are certain of receiving a response, and remember that Allah does not answer a du`a that comes from a heedless heart.” (Narrated by al-Tirmidhi (3479); classed as hasan by al-Shawkani in Tuhfat al-Shakirin (68) and by al-Albani in al-Silsilah al-Sahihah (594)
