Transliteration: Rabbi Zidni Ilma
Meaning: O my Lord increase me in knowledge.

2. Dua For Beneficial Ilm
اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ عِلْماً نَافِعاً وَرِزْقاً طَيِّباً وَعَمَلاً مُتَقَبَّلاً
Transliteration: Allahumma inni as’aluka ‘Ilman naafi’an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa ‘amalan mutaqabbalan.

اللَّهُمَّ انْفَعْنِي بِمَا عَلَّمْتَنِي وَ عَلِّمْنِي مَا يَنْفَعُنِي وَ زِدْنِي عِلْمًا
Transliteration: Allahumman fa’nee bi-maa ‘allam-ta-nee wa ‘allim-nee maa yanfa’u-nee war zuq-nee ‘ilman yanfa’u-nee.

Another similar dua from Anas bin Malik RA that he heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) supplicating:
اللَّهُمَّ انْفَعْنِي بِمَا عَلَّمْتَنِي، وَعَلِّمْنِي مَا يَنْفَعُنِي، وَارْزُقْنِي عِلْمًا تَنْفَعُنِي بِهِ

رَبَّنَآ ءَاتِنَا فِي ٱلدُّنۡيَا حَسَنَةٗ وَفِي ٱلۡأٓخِرَةِ حَسَنَةٗ وَقِنَا عَذَابَ ٱلنَّارِ
Transliteration: Rabbana atina fid-dunya hasanatan wa fil ‘akhirati hasanatan waqina ‘adhaban-nar.
Meaning: Our Lord, give us good in this world and in the Hereafter, and protect us from the torment of the Fire.
Surah Al Baqara verse 201
Al-Hasan said: ‘al-Hasana (good) in the Dunyaa is knowledge and worship, and in the Hereafter it is Paradise.’

How To Increase Ilm (Knowledge) According To Islam
There are many ways to increase your knowledge in Islam and the most importantly is sincerely turning to Allah and quitting sins.
Sincerely turning to Allah and asking Him to help you understand and learn. Knowledge is light that Allah casts into one’s heart, but if the heart is far from Allah, he will not be ready to receive this light.
As for the heart that is close to Allah, by means of worship, love, repentance, praying for forgiveness and turning to Him, it deserves to attain divine help in understanding.
Drinking Zamzam water is another way to increase your knowledge. Abu Bakr Muhammad bin Jafar said: ‘I heard Ibn Khuzaimah while he was asked: ‘Where did you get this knowledge from?’
He answered: ‘The Messenger of Allaah SAW said: ‘Zam Zam water is what it is drank for.’
So, when I would drink Zam Zam water I would ask Allaah for beneficial knowledge.’
Al-Hakim said: ‘I drank Zam Zam water and I asked Allaah that he grant me the ability to compile works of books in a good way.
Al-Hafidh Ibn Hajr said: ‘Once I drank Zam Zam, and I supplicated to Allaah, at that time I was at the beginning of studying Hadeeth, I asked Allaah to grant me the status of Dhahabi in memorising Hadeeth.
Twenty years later I went to perform Hajj, and I found in myself the ability to surpass that rank, so I asked Allaah for a higher rank than before, and I hope that Allaah grants me that rank.
Knowledge which are individual obligation are obligatory for everyone. You must learn the obligatory aspects of his Religion such as matters relating to the Oneness of Allah and explanation of what negates and nullifies it such as polytheism and its various forms: open and hidden, minor and major.
This is required of every individual because each person must be acquainted with the concept of Islamic monotheism and singling Allah out in His specifics, the most High and Sublime.
So it is now clear that the Shareeah knowledge can be classified into two: individual obligation and collective obligation.
The collective obligation is recommended for the one who has surpassed the basic level, so he learns in order to preserve the Shareeah of Allah and that Allah may guide His servants through him and for people to benefit from him. There is nothing more honourable than knowledge.
It is worth noting that the student must strive to study hard in order to gain his achievement.
