اللَّهُمَّ طَهِّرْ قَلْبِي مِنَ النِّفَاقِ وَعَمَلِي مِنَ الرِّيَاءِ وَلِسَانِي مِنَ الْكَذِبِ وَعَيْنِي مِنَ الْخِيَانَةِ فَإِنَّكَ تَعْلَمُ خَائِنَةَ الْأَعْيُنِ وَمَا تُخْفِي الصُّدُورُ

Transliteration

Allahuma tahhir qalbi minan nifaq wa ‘amali minar riya wa lisani minal kadhib wa ‘ayni minal khiyana fa inaka t’alamu khainatal a’ayuni wa ma tukhfis sudur.

‘And my eyes from betrayal,‘ meaning looking at what is not permissible or indicating towards what leads to corruption.
‘For You know the betrayal of the eyes,‘ as mentioned by al-Baydawi, referring to the deceptive nature of the gaze, such as the second look at what is forbidden and the illicit gaze at what causes harm. It is not appropriate to interpret betrayal of the eyes as being intended, as the statement
‘And what the breasts conceal‘ does not support it. According to Sahib al-Madārik, the statement ‘And what the breasts conceal’ means what is hidden of trust or betrayal. It is said that it is to look at a foreign woman with lustful intent, then contemplate in his heart her beauty, and he does not know with his gaze and thoughts that it is in the presence [of Allah], and Allah knows all of that.
